iTunes search2.1

search the iTunes Music Store for the highest quality art

UPDATE: The iTunes art grabber doesn't work now. Apple has blocked the full-sized artwork for 99% of the store. (only thumbnails are still availible) Feel free to search the other sources though.

itunes notes

By default AlbumArtwork.org will search the iTunes Music Store first. This has a good selection (every album available on iTunes), and good quality (almost always 600x600px+, sometimes 1425x1425+!). A couple notes. Firstly, there are NO more 404s! If the album is on iTunes (specifically the US store), it should show up here. Some art is available in tif format instead of jpg. Unlike the first version of the script I've automatically detected which format is available and displayed the link accordingly. If you download a tif cover you'll probably want to convert it to JPEG before embedding it in your music files.

There will, of course, be albums that you can't find on iTunes and therefore I've coded 'grabbers' for three other sites, sorted in order of normal quality. My hope is for albumartwork.org to truly be the first and last place you need to look for the majority of your album art needs.

quick instructions

It's really simple... just type in both the artist and album you want, hit find, and you're off! (if you don't get any results, chose a different content provider on the left side of the page.) This script will query the iTunes store (or whichever other site) and search for the album you specified then give a thumbnail and link to a full sized version of the art. You can then use the image with any media player that supports coverart, that is, even though the image may come from the iTunes servers you do NOT have to use the iTunes program. Now you have no excuse for your media collection not to be dressed up :)

why albumartwork.org?

» Extremely high quality. Album from the iTunes servers is often at resolutions of 1425x1425 and even higher. Great for printing, rasterbating, etc.
» Fast! Type in the album name and artist and you're off! If the first site doesn't have it, chose another from the sidebar on the left.
» Free! You'll never have to pay for an album art grabbing program again. If you do wish to donate however, you're welcome to do so. =)
» It's easy.
